The case against streaks

A streak punishes one bad day. A budget should forgive it by tomorrow morning, so Groat has none.

A streak is a count of consecutive good days. It is very good at getting people to open an app and very bad at helping them when a day goes wrong.

One bad day

Overspend by £30 on a Tuesday and a streak says you failed. Groat says tomorrow is £5 smaller for the next six days, and moves on.

What we show

Ahead or behind, in pounds, for the month. That figure can recover. A broken streak cannot.

One number a day. That is the whole idea.
